Ad clicks
98% of them from people in the target industry.
Kontolink sells software that collects receipts and matches them to the bank, and its buyers are bookkeepers and accountants. We made its ads, tested them one element at a time and got a small, specific audience to click at three times the LinkedIn average.
Results from Kontolink's LinkedIn Ads reports over 6 months.
98% of them from people in the target industry.
And 3,400 people watched a video to the end.
Three times the 0.44% LinkedIn average.
Across 225,000 ad impressions in Denmark.
We tested images and video first, then the ad copy. Short videos, short copy that opened by naming bookkeepers and accountants, and copy about the new bookkeeping rules all won, and the click-through rate almost tripled.
Click-through rate is clicks divided by impressions, as reported by LinkedIn for all campaigns in each period.
Kontolink sells to bookkeepers and accountants. They spend a lot of time chasing clients for missing receipts and get squeezed before every deadline. New rules on digital receipts were on the way, and many of them assumed a new tool would be as hard to use as the ones they had tried before. New customers mostly came from cold calls.
The goal: get Danish bookkeepers and accountants to know Kontolink, then turn that attention into leads.
We built audiences of bookkeepers and accountants and launched awareness ads with images and short videos of the co-founder. In the first month of ads, video beat images, and short videos beat long ones. In the next month we tested four copy angles. Short copy that called out bookkeepers and accountants by name, and copy about the new bookkeeping rules, won clearly.
With a retargeting audience in place we added lead forms, a webinar offer and an intro booking, and held a video day to film new ads. In total we tested graphics, copy, headlines, video lengths, lead forms, offers, campaign objectives and landing pages. Because the audience was small, we watched closely for ad fatigue and kept trimming it for relevance.
Over 6 months the ads were shown 225,000 times and reached 11,000 bookkeepers and accountants. They got 3,100 clicks, 98% of them from the target industry, and 36,000 video views started, with 3,400 watched to the end. The click-through rate was 1.36% overall, against a 0.44% LinkedIn average, and the retargeting audience grew from 900 to 4,000 people.
A click-through rate three times the LinkedIn average, from one narrow professional audience.

225,000 impressions, a reach of 11,000 bookkeepers and accountants, 3,100 clicks and a 1.36% click-through rate.
Ad clicks and clicks to Kontolink's website for each monthly report, with the click-through rate.
All campaigns, by monthly report.
How we count. Months are counted from the start of the strategy work. Ads went live at the end of month 1, so the month 2 report also covers those first days, and the month 4 report covers three weeks. The month 6 report summed up the whole engagement and gave totals only, so it has no bar. Click-through rate is as reported by LinkedIn in each monthly report. Impressions, reach, clicks, industry relevance, video views and the 0.44% LinkedIn average are as stated in Kontolink's final report. The copy test and video click-through rates are for single ads, as stated in the monthly reports. Webinar sign-ups are lead form entries, excluding our own test entries.
